Media Piles on to Defend Planned Parenthood
A new article on Yahoo! News discusses the recent circumstances regarding Planned Parenthood and the undercover sting that revealed their willingness to overlook and enable sex trafficking and child abuse. But the “article” is little more than a pro-abortion puff piece disguised as news.
Even the title of the article, “Foes seek to de-fund, discredit Planned Parenthood,” tries to draw attention away from the alarming practices of Planned Parenthood and cast pro-lifers in a villainous role using semantics. The rest of the article proves to be no different. The author, David Crary, is disappointingly biased toward Planned Parenthood, and his disdain for pro-lifers is barely veiled. Crary devotes little word space to the actual Planned Parenthood controversy regarding their efforts to enable child abuse. Rather, he spends much of the article lauding Planned Parenthood’s origins and modern day operations, while offering only a skeptical sentence about the organization’s evil history of eugenics and racist policies.
He sympathetically casts Planned Parenthood as the victim of relentless attacks over the years from “anti-abortion” forces. Of course, he is quick to print the defiant words of Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards: “We’ve been here for the past 95 years, and we’ll be here for the next 95.”
The media has been resisting the shocking story about Planned Parenthood for a couple weeks now. Very few outlets have reported on the undercover videos taken by the pro-life group Live Action. Several articles have appeared that defend Planned Parenthood while castigating pro-lifers for the videos. Yet as more and more Americans learn of Planned Parenthood’s actions, they will become less and less willing to subsidize the evil organization with their taxpayer dollars.
Thankfully, we live in an age where we no longer rely on traditional media to learn the news. No matter how much the media tries to suppress and spin the story with articles like Mr. Crary’s, they’ll be fighting a losing battle.
