FPN Flies Hope Over “Gay Pride” Events from California to Florida in 2007

[FPN -2007] A Christian pro-family organization worked with supporters and allies throughout the nation in 2007 to run an evangelistic outreach to homosexuals, designed to confront attendees at so-called “gay pride” events with the truth that Jesus Christ can set them free from sexual sin.

The Virginia-based Family Policy Network (FPN) spearheaded a national program called “Project Hope Days,” wherein it worked with individual supporters and allied pro-family groups to sponsor flying airplane banners over pro-gay events throughout the nation that read, “JESUS CHRIST: WWW. HOPE FOR HOMOSEXUALS .COM.” Some of the co-sponsors participating in FPN’s 2007 Project Hope Days campaign included the California-based Defend the Family International, American Family Association of Michigan, Illinois-based Americans for Truth (AFT) the Ohio-based Mission America (MA), and the Pennsylvania-based Repent America.

FPN first established the “hopeforhomosexuals.com” website in 2001 to encourage practicing homosexuals to “come out” of that destructive lifestyle, and to embrace the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The website features stirring testimonies from former homosexuals, an explanation of God’s plan to redeem those who are willing to repent, information warning about the destructive nature of homosexuality, and contact information for groups that assist people who desire to repent of sexual sin.

FPN President Joe Glover expressed his concerns for the participants in so-called “gay pride” events throughout 2007 by saying, “Homosexuality is nothing to celebrate. It has grave consequences, both physical and spiritual.” He said, “The hope of all who sin — including homosexuals — is the opportunity to turn away from sin, and to embrace the redemption God makes available through the atoning death of His Son, Jesus Christ on the cross.”

Previous to 2007, FPN had worked with co-sponsors throughout the nation to fly the Hope Banner over pro-homosexual events in California, Florida, Massachusetts, Massachusetts, Michigan, Texas and Virginia. In 2007, FPN’s Hope banner flew over attendees at “gay pride” parades in several U.S. cities, including Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinios; Los Angeles, California; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Orlando, Florida; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; San Fransisco, California, and over an unofficial “gay day” event on Father’s Day at the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.
