FOREST, VA
— Responding to the controversy over Dr. Laura’s opposition to homosexual behavior, a representative of Family Policy Network today asserted that homosexual activists are often the true sources of hate in the battle for tolerance.

In a statement released Monday, March 19, Dr. Laura Schlesinger stated she would have to cancel an event in Detroit planned to raise money for her children’s charity. The popular radio talk-show host said she had received threats and did not want to “compromise anyone’s physical safety or subject anyone to embarrassment or discomfort.” She continued, “Unfortunately, children’s welfare appears to be unimportant to those who perceive the cancellation of the party as some sort of victory.”

Joe Glover, President of Family Policy Network, responded to the controversy by saying, “Homosexual activists want to claim that Dr. Laura is intolerant. Meanwhile, they’re threatening to crash her events for charity! Does this make any sense? It looks to me like they’re the real source of hate in this cultural debate.”

“It’s amazing to me that pro-family voices like hers and ours are so often assailed for ‘hate’ because we seek to rescue homosexuals from physical and spiritual harm,” Glover said. “Few in the mainstream media are honest enough to explain that conservatives oppose the behavior which destroys the lives of homosexuals because we care about their plight.”
