Texas Supermarket Chain Promotes Homosexual Agenda
Grocery Chain Forsakes Christian Roots; Funds “Gay Pride” Events
H-E-B Supermarkets, a Texas-based private chain which owns 304 stores, has decided to fund the homosexual agenda in their hometown of San Antonio and in Austin.
On Saturday, June 17, 2006 H-E-B sponsored the San Antonio Homosexual ‘PrideFest’ event at HemisFair Park from 3-11 p.m. (See Related Information below for a link to pictures of the event.)
H-E-B also had a parade float in the so-called “Austin Homosexual Parade” this year on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006. There, in the midst of homosexual organizations like “The Cockpit Club,” “Bound by Desire,” “The Texas Gay Rodeo Association,” “The Transgender Advocates of Central Texas,” and “The Central Texas Boys of Leather,” was an H-E-B Grocery Stores float, complete with employees dressed in the characteristic H-E-B red shirts.
H-E-B was founded on solid Christian values back in 1905. However, company chairman Charles Butt has clearly taken the company in a different direction since becoming CEO in 1971.
After a Texas radio personality exposed H-E-B’s support for pro-homosexual activism, citizens began e-mailing and calling the grocery chain’s headquarters to register their complaints. Christian radio talk show host Adam McManus even placed a downloadable petition exposing H-E-B’s pro-homosexual actions on the website of San Antonio station KSLR.
H-E-B defended themselves by responding to citizens with the following:
“We received your e-mail regarding our participation and the participation of other corporations and banks in the upcoming Gay Pride Festival. H-E-B received a request for a small donation for the event; the request was reviewed and approved by our Regional Diversity Council. We realize that you are unhappy with us about this but we hope you will take into consideration that we contribute to over 5,000 non-profit groups of all kinds across the state of Texas annually.”
McManus has led three pickets at various San Antonio-area H-E-B Supermarkets and challenged listeners of his radio program on KSLR to boycott H-E-B.
The homosexual activist group Equality Texas sent out an alert statewide — including a database of 25,000 names in San Antonio alone — which they claim generated 2,800 e-mails of thanks to H-E-B for sponsoring the homosexual agenda.
