Y-PEER, a youth initiative of the United Nations Population Fund, wants to make access to abortion and contraception an international human right for children as young as 10 years old. The group also issued what U.N. analysts say is a call for the decriminalization of prostitution and drug use, and for “confidentiality” in health-care services for youth.
The “Joint Youth Statement on the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Young People” was released in preparation for the U.N. Youth Conference, which began Monday in New York.
The position brought immediate reaction from pro family groups. Peter Sprigg at the Family Research Council called the statements shocking and Paul Rondeau at the American Life League said it reveals that the UN has a pro-abortion agenda for children.
