Lawmakers Call for Planned Parenthood Investigation
Led by Representatives Diane Black and Pete Olson, 72 members of Congress are calling on the Government Accountability Office to investigate the amount of taxpayer funding Planned Parenthood receives and how the funds are being used.
In 2012, the Alliance Defending Freedom released a report that found more than 99 million dollars in waste or possible Planned Parenthood fraud, including an alleged illegal taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion-related procedures.
Planned Parenthood has come under fire in recent years for allegations of Medicaid fraud and for failing to ensure that federal grants do not fund abortion services.
Last year, Planned Parenthood received over $540 million in taxpayer funding.
