The Pacific Justice Institute is going to court on behalf of a California couple that was fined by local officials for hosting a Bible Study in their home.

Chuck and Stephanie Fromm were slapped with a $300 fine by the city of San Juan Capistrano for holding a Bible Study meeting in their residence. City officials have advised the Fromms that they will be fined an additional $500 for any additional Bible Study gatherings unless they obtain a conditional use permit. The action came as a result of a complaint by an atheist neighbor, who raised traffic and parking concerns.

Brad Dacus, President of the Pacific Justice Institute, says the group will appeal adding “An individual’s home is revered in terms of that person’s right to gather, to pray and to exercise their religion, particularly with friends and family.”
