Healthcare “Reform” = Taxpayer-Funded Abortion?
When White House Budget Director Peter Orzag was asked on 7/19/09 whether the nationalized healthcare bill would include taxpayer-funded abortions, he deflected by saying he was “not prepared to rule it out.”
Though Orzag was adept at playing down the administration’s desire to publicly fund abortion, congressional liberals are not as good at hiding their efforts to require American (and often pro-life) taxpayers to subsidize abortion. While Orzag can use verbal gymnastics to distract attention from the administration’s stealthy plan, congressional liberals must account for the paper trail they’re leaving behind. The Democrat-controlled House and Senate have been adding pro-abortion amendments to the healthcare bill while rejecting any efforts to prohibit abortion funding.
For those Americans who still believe that Obama’s campaign promise to “reduce abortions” was anything more than deceptive political posturing, consider that the “abortion as healthcare” plan is only a fulfillment of another Obama campaign promise to require funding for “reproductive services”, which is code wording for abortion.
