Church leaders in the African-American community are speaking out forcefully against President Barack Obama’s campaign to redefine the institution of marriage.

Rev. William Owens, President of the Coalition of African-American Pastors, says that black pastors will not remain silent “while marriage is undermined by our own President using Christian and civil rights language.”

Rev. Anthony Evans, President of the National Black Church Initiative, says President Obama is out of touch with the values of African-American families. And Council Nedd, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Missionary Church, says that the subject of marriage is a basic theological, moral, and Biblical issue adding, “There are things in Scripture that can be interpeted one way or another. Marriage is not one of them.”

Leviticus 18:22
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.
