Homosexual Activists Are Popularizing Suicide Among “Gay” Teens
A recent op-ed in a pro-homosexual online magazine shows homosexual activists are aware that their efforts to link bullying with the recent increase in suicides from “gay” teens may actually be contributing to the increase in suicides.
The opinion piece in the “gay” magazine The Advocate was penned by David McFarland, a leader of The Trevor Project, an organization which exists to affirm homosexuality among teenagers. In his piece, McFarland writes positively of the social and cultural benefits homosexual activists receive by “showcasing the health crisis of disproportionate rates of suicide and incidences of bullying that affect LGBT young people.” Yet, he also admits that this showcasing “tactic has also increased suicide risk.”
Showcasing? Tactic? Even if Mr. McFarland regrets his poor choice of words, his use of them nevertheless reveals the mentality behind homosexual activists’ attempts to widely publicize recent suicides by “gay” teens. Activists portray these teens as victims in order to garner cultural sympathy and approval for homosexuality, but their “tactic” is actually self-fulfilling. The societal sympathy and attention activists are able to whip up in support of a dead teenager actually entices other vulnerable “gay” teens into achieving for themselves the same level of affirmation, even if it costs them life.
This deadly “tactic” is nothing new. A book written by two homosexual activists in 1989 called After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90′s is considered by many to be the “gay manifesto” for normalizing same-sex perversion in America. Authors Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen set forth their 383-page plan to legitimize homosexuality by portraying “gays as victims” and “gay victimizers as bad.”
The strategy of “gay” martyrdom has paid huge dividends for homosexual activists since 1989. In recent years, homosexual activists have overturned laws against sodomy nationally, legalized so-called “gay marriage” in some states and even gained local school bans on criticism of homosexuality under the guise of preventing “bullying.” Yet, their ultimate objective is to silence everyone who will not yield to their celebration of perversion by joining with them to reject Biblical righteousness, especially in the area of sexual purity. For proof of this objective, read Kirk and Madsen’s clear statement on page 176 of After the Ball:
[There are people] who feel compelled to adhere rigidly to an authoritarian belief structure (e.g., an orthodox religion), that condemns homosexuality. Our primary objective regarding die-hard homohaters of this sort is to cow and silence (emphasized by the authors) them as far as possible, not to convert or even desensitize them. (After the Ball, p. 176)
It is a shame that homosexual activists are capitalizing on these tragic teen suicides in order selfishly promote their own goals. Let’s be clear: No true Christian is defending the practice of making fun of students who think they’re “gay.” Bullying goes on in most schools for many reasons, not just because of homosexuality. No matter the reason for bullying, it is wrong in every case. However, it is also necessary to stress that such behavior on the part of schoolyard (or even grown-up) bullies does not reflect the attitude of Christians who think Biblically about the issue of homosexuality.
Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God made clear His intention for sexuality. His ideal of a one-man, one-woman, life-long union necessarily forbids adultery, incest, bestiality, pre-marital sex, and homosexuality. As such, Biblical Christian opposition to the legitimization of homosexual behavior is not rooted in hatred or fear, but rather a desire to honor and promote God’s clear intentions for sex.
Nowhere is there a greater need to teach Biblical sexual morality than in the upcoming generation. They are bombarded on every front with messages that it’s okay to explore (and even question) their God-given design however they want. Efforts on the part of homosexual activists to encourage children in their confusion are dangerous and must be opposed. Indeed, on Judgment Day these pied pipers of “experimentation” will greatly regret their leading of children into sin.

The truth is that all people are sinners in God’s eyes. The Word of God says that there is none righteous, not even one person (Romans 3:10). It goes on to say that ALL humans have sinned and that ALL humans fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). But Scripture also promises that if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature, old things pass away and all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The only hope for sinners (homosexual and heterosexual alike) is faith in Jesus Christ: “All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). God’s love is not reserved for people who have always had everything “straight.” Instead, God desires to have a relationship with those who have gone astray. And while there is a great price to be paid for our sin; God has already paid it in full. Hope can be yours today if you will open your heart.
Leviticus 18:22
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.
