9/6/11: Questions Raised About Abortion Study
Podcast: Download (Duration: 1:00 — 1.4MB)
A study released in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology suggests 97 percent of doctors have encountered someone who sought an abortion, but that only 14 percent were willing to do so.
Dr. Sandy Christiansen of the Christian Medical & Dental Association doesn’t think the research tells the whole story because it didn’t look at family practitioners. The study also didn’t make a distinction between medical and surgical abortions.
Without being able to tap into those figures, Christiansen says she wonders about the true results of the study, especially because of research revealing that younger doctors are more willing to do abortions. She says “they grew up since Roe v Wade and that’s all they’ve known … so they need to be shown a better way.”
