While many churches have done away with Sunday School, Southern Baptists are thrilled that this summer’s Sunday School Leadership Conference likely was “the largest Sunday School weekend ever in its history. That’s according to Bruce Raley, director of leadership and evangelism at LifeWay Christian Resources.

Pastors, ministers of education, state executives, deacons and Sunday School teachers traveled to the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains for the sessions at the LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Center.

But they were only a fraction of the participants, with Raley estimating that 10,000 people were present via simulcast for the online training event.

The theme of this year’s Conference was “Transformational Church Goes to Sunday School.” The conference established that the most important question to ask in a Sunday School class is ‘Have I reproduced me?’
