6/23/11: FPN Policy Analyst Calls GOP “Hypocritical”

Alex Mason of the Family Policy Network is charging GOP leaders with hypocrisy for treating lawmakers caught in scandals differently, depending on their party affiliations. Mason is critical of Republican leaders who overlooked the immoral actions of Senator David Vitter, a republican from Louisiana, while decrying those of Representative Anthony Weiner, a democrat from New York.

In 2007, Vitter was exposed in the infamous “DC Madam” case as a married man who had paid prostitutes for sexual encounters.

Mason says “Republicans were correct in demanding that Congressman Weiner resign on account of his moral failures. But it’s high time Republicans exhibit the courage of conviction required to hold one of their own to the same standard.”
