US Department of State Encourages and Promotes Sin Worldwide

The United States Department of State, led by Hillary Clinton, has issued an official statement pledging the US government’s unfailing support of homosexuals and “transgender” people. The statement was released on May 17, the “International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia,” which is a day created by homosexual activists in order to marginalize and discredit any opposition to sinful sexual behavior.

Secretary Clinton, whose statement claims to speak on behalf of all US citizens, condemns anyone who supports “laws that criminalize love and promote hate.” Clinton acts as if Biblical opposition to immoral behavior is actually a veiled hatred of people. Sadly, this is a dishonest tactic commonly used by homosexual activists. On the contrary, this is not about love. A government can no more make a homosexual love a member of the opposite sex than it can make the sun rise and set. That’s not an issue of public policy. The real issue is whether a government should promote and legitimize a destructive and sinful behavior by encouraging and defending its practice around the world, as Clinton’s statement aims to do.

Governments and laws will never change the heart of any sinner (including homosexuals). That is solely a job for Jesus Christ. However, governments are charged with the duty (Romans 13) to promote good and restrict evil insofar as it affects society.

In her statement, Secretary Clinton attributes most opposition to homosexual and “transgender” behavior as being “rooted in a lack of understanding of what it actually means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.” She is wrong. Biblical Christians actually have a very good understanding of what causes people to engage in such behavior: sin nature. Scripture makes it very clear that all people are sinful and that no one meets the holy and righteous standards of God’s law (Romans 3). All humans have been utterly corrupted by sin, which darkens the mind and hardens the heart against God. According to Scripture, people engage in sinful behavior because they reject the truth of God in exchange for a lie of their own making (Romans 1).

Sadly, our government has elevated this lie to a position of truth. Through Secretary Clinton’s official statement from the US Department of State, the American people have been co-opted in the effort to legitimize and promote sin worldwide. Our leaders would do well to heed the words of the prophet Isaiah, who warned those who call evil good and good evil.

“In every part of the world, men and women are persecuted and attacked because of who they are or whom they love. Homophobia, transphobia and the brutal hostility associated with them are often rooted in a lack of understanding of what it actually means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT).”

Romans 13 1-7

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.(NKJV)
