FPN Promotes State-Based School Club Restrictions in AL, NC, TN, TX and VA

[FPN] – In August of 2006, Family Policy Network (FPN) announced a campaign to promote a state-based approach to protecting children from homosexual activists in public schools. Efforts are underway (in various stages) to promote FPN’s school-based clubs proposal in Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Similar bills have become law already in Georgia and Utah. Another similar proposal has been promoted in Massachusetts.

Duke Employee Apologizes for Sniper Comment vs. Pro-Family Leader

Concerned Women for America (CWA) [recently] broke the news about an apparent threat to the life of pro-family advocate Peter LaBarbera made by a commenter on lesbian activist Pam Spaulding’s anti-Christian site Pam’s House Blend.

Spaulding is an information technology manager with Duke University Press, and her employer appears quite proud of its blustering left-wing blogger. Duke Press has even publicly praised and promoted her blog activities, calling them a “mixture of snappy prose, funny postings and serious commentary.”

So, just for fun, let’s see if we can’t yuck it up a bit with Duke University. Let’s take a look at some of Spaulding’s “snappy” and “funny” musings:

Homosexual Activist Threatens Life of Pro-Family Advocate

Police in Durham, North Carolina, are investigating a death threat against Illinois family advocate Peter LaBarbera that was posted on a popular homosexual website. Pro-family activist Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth has been the target of a death threat posted on a popular homosexual website.

LaBarbera has contacted the FBI and Durham, North Carolina police, who are investigating whether the threat constitutes an Internet crime.

ACLU May Sue North Carolina School District for Banning “Gay-Straight Alliances”

A constitutional attorney is praising a North Carolina school board for adopting a neutral policy that prohibits the formation of sex-based student clubs on campus. The move by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education comes in response to the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club at South Rowan High School. The intention of the policy is to promote the “well-being of students” by preventing, among other things, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancies, sexual harassment, and interference in the parent-child relationship. While praising the school board’s move, he also predicts the ACLU will file a lawsuit over the action.
