Who are my legislators?
You can find out who your representatives in the House of Delegates, Senate, and U.S. Congress are by clicking on Who’s My Legislator.

How do I contact a legislator?
During the legislative session, Delegates and Senators may be contacted at their offices in the General Assembly Building. During the interim, Delegates and Senators may be contacted in their respective district offices.

How can I find out how my legislator voted on a particular issue?
The Legislative Information System contains the history/actions related to all legislation. If you know the bill or resolution number, key in the number and scroll to find the highlighted link to the vote in which you are interested. If you do not know the bill/resolution number, there are several ways to find a bill/resolution.

  1. If you know the name of the Delegate or Senator who sponsored the legislation, click on Members. Click on the member’s name then click on the link to Chief Patron to view the list of legislation sponsored by that member.
  2. If you know the subject of the bill/resolution, you can view a list of bills/resolutions by subjects.
  3. You can do a search on the Bills and Resolutions database by going to Search Bills & Resolutions and using keywords and phrases to search for bills/resolutions.

Do Virginia legislators have term limits?
No, there are no term limits in Virginia.

How many people does each legislator represent?
Each member of the House of Delegates represents approximately 71,000 citizens and each Senator represents approximately 177,000 citizens.

What localities are included in my district?
If you know your House of Delegates and Senate district numbers, link to their respective district descriptions. If you do not know the numbers of your districts, link to Who’s My Legislator and then to House of Delegates and Senatorial district descriptions.
