FPN to fly Christian message before “gay day” at Disney Saturday morning

Forest, VA – A Christian group is sponsoring an evangelistic outreach as “gay day” at Walt Disney World gets underway Saturday morning. The group plans to confront homosexuals with the truth that Jesus Christ can set them free from sexual sin.

The Virginia-based Family Policy Network (FPN) has contracted an aerial advertising company to fly an airplane banner over the skies near the entrance to the Magic Kingdom as the park opens on Saturday morning. The message on the banner will read, “JESUS CHRIST: WWW.HOPE FOR HOMOSEXUALS.COM.” Weather permitting, the flight will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the skies over the “gay days” host hotel, DoubleTree Resort on International Drive, and conclude above the highway adjacent to Disney World around 9:30 a.m.

For several years now, FPN has contracted airplane pilots to fly “Hope Banners” over numerous pro-homosexual events throughout the nation. Previous events visited by FPN’s Hope Days project have taken place in cities throughout the nation, including: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego and San Francisco. In 2003, FPN sued the Federal Aviation Administration to challenge the “no-fly zone” imposed over Disney World, but failed to gain access to skies over the park. The group flew the banner over Universal Studios during its “gay day” event instead.

In 2007, a weekly pro-homosexual newspaper in San Francisco captured the essence of FPN’s reason for flying the Hope Banner when it cited the group’s president as saying, “Homosexuality is nothing to celebrate. It has grave consequences, both physical and spiritual.” He added, “The hope of all who sin, including homosexuals, is the chance to turn from sin and embrace the redemption God makes available through His Son, Jesus Christ.”
