Hobby Lobby Hearing this Week

Hobby Lobby’s legal challenge to the national health-care requirement for insurance coverage of “preventive services” — including abortion-causing drugs — will be heard in federal court in Oklahoma City tomorrow.

The Greens, a prominent evangelical Christian family in the Sooner State and founder of Hobby Lobby has garnered criticism for filing the lawsuit, but also a great deal of praise in their hometown of Oklahoma City.

Noting the Green family’s stance, conservative analyst Tina Korbe Dzurisin called a populist response to the national requirement “impressive.” Last weekend, thousands of Americans in 145 cities rallied in opposition to the Department of Health and Human Services mandate. Among the largest crowds was Saturday’s gathering at Daley Plaza in Chicago, President Barack Obama’s hometown.
