Birk Warns of Loss of Religious Liberty

Baltimore Ravens All-Pro Center Matt Birk says “Marylanders should not be fooled into thinking we can redefine marriage and still protect our religious liberty.” The comment came in an on-line video released by the Maryland Marriage Alliance. This is the second in a series of videos taped by Birk against Question 6 and the redefinition of marriage.

Birk warned that changing the definition will have consequences and voters aren’t being given all the facts in the brief language that’s on the ballot.

Birk points out that the ballot says religious organizations don’t have to provide goods and services in violation of their religious beliefs. But he says the ballot does not include a provision in the actual law stating that exemptions regarding services do not apply if a particular program or service receives state or federal funds, and it doesn’t include any protections for businesses or individuals.
