ALA Bans Books While Decrying Banned Books
The American Library Association’s Banned Books Week has just wrapped up. During that week, the Association bemoans the fact that certain books are not accepted in libraries.
But Regina Griggs of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays accuses the American Library Association of banning books it doesn’t like.
Griggs says some of the books that they’ve submitted regarding the ex-gay community and the possibility of change have been banned everywhere.
P-FOX has actually sent some of the books to public and school libraries and, according to Griggs, those books where rejected.
Every year PFOX asks why the books were banned. In a response to a Freedom of Information Act inquiry, the books were described as “self-loathing, conveying psychological damage, and intolerant.”
