Barna Poll Lists Key Issues In Presidential Election

A national survey by the Barna Group found 83 percent of likely voters said a candidate’s political positions would be the single most important factor in deciding their vote, followed by the candidate’s character; political party; political experience and the candidate’s religious faith.

David Kinnaman, president of the Barna Group, said this election will be unique due to the respective faiths of President Obama and challenger Mitt Romney adding “This is the first election where there isn’t a clearly defined mainstream Christian candidate available for voting.

The top issues, in order as rated by respondents, were a candidate’s position on health care followed by tax policy; employment policies and strategies; national dependence on foreign oil; same-sex marriage; environmental policy; and abortion.
