4/5/12: MRC Accuses ESPN of Anti-Christian Bias

A media watchdog group claims anti-Christian bias against ESPN for not airing a pro-voting spot featuring a NASCAR driver.

Blake Koch is an upcoming driver on NASCAR’s nationwide circuit. But when he partnered with his sponsor, Rise Up and Register, to produce a spot to encourage people to vote, ESPN refused to air the ad, saying the commercial linked back to the driver’s website, which promotes his Christian faith. The ad was non-religious and non-partisan.

Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center says this is clearly an attack on Christians adding “The only thing you can read into that is, according to ESPN, you’re no longer allowed to be openly Christian.” The MRC spokesman laments that ESPN is apparently becoming like all the other mainstream media outlets.
