3/16/12: Ten Commandments Defender Moves Closer to Retaining Seat

Podcast: Download (Duration: 1:00 — 1.4MB)

Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore is one step closer to reclaiming his position.

Moore was removed from office in 2003 because of his refusal to bow to a federal court order to remove from the state judicial building a two-and-a-half-ton Ten Commandments monument that he had installed. On Tuesday, Moore won the Republican primary, gaining an opportunity to reclaim his place on the state’s high court.

OneNewsNow asked Moore if he has given any thought to restoring the Ten Commandments monument. No, he said, because that would make the election more about himself than the real issue. He said “The real issue is the acknowledgment of the sovereignty of God and that I will always acknowledge.”
