An Appeal to Anheuser-Busch to Stop Promoting Homosexuality

WHAT ANHEUSER-BUSCH IS DOING
Anheuser-Busch is target marketing to homosexuals ““ people who engage in sex acts with people of the same gender. This decision alone is bad enough, but the means by which the beer giant is seeking to enlarge their customer base among these people is even worse: Anheuser-Busch is promoting homosexuality for money.
LOVE MEANS TELLING THE TRUTH
Family Policy Network does not believe people should hate homosexuals. We, like most Christians who speak against homosexual behavior, are motivated by love. Of course, “hate” gets all the headlines, but the truth is…every human life is precious to God and is entitled to respect, including people who engage in wrong behavior.
But since great physical and emotional suffering occurs among people who practice sodomy, it’s an inherent Christian duty to show compassion and concern. God abhors any form of sexual sin; be it premarital sex, adultery, prostitution, or homosexuality. If you were involved in self-destructive behavior, wouldn’t you want someone to care about you? Why would a company like Anheuser-Busch endorse a hopeless path for any group of human beings? Apparently, they believe it will make them more money. Family Policy Network is doing something far more difficult: “speaking the truth in love,” and calling on Anheuser-Busch to reverse its policies and stop funding and promoting the homosexual agenda.
CALLING HOMOSEXUALITY SIN IS LOVE
The statistics are in “¦ and they don’t lie. Homosexual sex acts are deadly. They account for a disproportionate number of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as Gonorrhea, and Hepatitis A and B1. Sixty-five percent of all reported AIDS cases among males since 1981 have involved men engaged in homosexual behavior. Youth engaging in sodomy are twenty-three times more likely to contract STDs than heterosexual youth. Sadly, the culture’s answer to STDs is, “more condoms,” yet it’s been proven they don’t protect against all STDs. Condoms often fail. Yet Anheuser-Busch wants to tell homosexuals, who are at the greatest risk of STDs, that there is nothing wrong with their behavior! Why? For money.
IS IT WORTH IT?
Even if condoms were 100% effective against STDs, they couldn’t fix broken hearts. Studies show a high degree of destructive behavior among homosexuals that include alcohol, drug abuse, emotional and physical violence. Is it worth a few extra dollars in sales for Anheuser-Busch to promote a lifestyle that brings this kind of heartache?
Self destructive behavior in gay communities is rampant even in homosexual-affirming cities like San Francisco. Therefore, it is not a lack of acceptance that causes the greatest pain for these hurting people; rather it is harmful behavior that hurts them the most. One has to wonder if it’s worth it for Anheuser-Busch to make a few extra dollars at the expense of hurting people.
CHANGE IS POSSIBLE
Thousands of stories from former homosexuals confirm what counselors and pastors see every day. Homosexuals often describe deep-seated, almost unconscious desires that drive a same-sex urge. They also tell of rejection from early childhood and lack of bonding to same-sex parents, sexual violence and rape, or mental and emotional abuse as critical elements in the formation of their gender-identity.
Life situations don’t deny the choice each makes in yielding to temptation, no matter how strong the urge. Still, many have walked out of homosexuality, back into normal, healthy lives. How? Often because someone cared enough to love them, despite where they were, and to confront them with the truth of their sexual sin. That love comes in the person of Jesus Christ and motivates our commitment to this issue.
PERFECTION NOT NECESSARY
A sinner can spot sin a mile away. The truth is, we are all sinners. The difference in this debate is that some recognize their sin and turn away from it, while others embrace it and suffer.
That begs the larger question “¦ if we can’t talk about sin as a society, just where is our moral compass pointed? It is time for good people in our country to stand up and declare that right is right and wrong is wrong. It is time to tell companies like Anheuser-Busch that they are wrong to promote behavior that destroys lives.
TAKE A STAND
For years, decent minded people have taken a stand in the public square against aggressive homosexual activism. They’ve paid a heavy price, with sound-bite labels like “bigot” and “homophobe.” But all along, most of these heroes have been working for something greater; something largely unreported in the media…healing for homosexuals, not harassment; a way out, not promoting more hopelessness.
For this reason, we’re asking a corporate giant to put people and principle above profits. We’re urging people like you to tell Anheuser-Busch that you don’t patronize companies who promote homosexuality.
