RICHMOND, VA – Three separate bills to encourage and require the display of the National Motto in public buildings are currently working their way through the Virginia Senate.

House Bill 106E, which passed the House of Delegates by a 91 to 7 margin, encourages local city councils and boards of supervisors to post the motto in local government administration buildings. House Bill 107E, which was approved in the House by passed 88-11 margin, requires the motto to be posted in state-run courtrooms. House Bill 108E, which passed in the House 83 to 16, requires local school boards to post the motto in ever public school.

Despite overwhelming support for the bills in the House of Delegates, FPN President Joe Glover says the bills are not guaranteed the same success in the state Senate. Glover said, “Similar legislation was killed in the Senate Education and Health Committee last year, so we can’t be too confident going back over there for round 2.”
