Attorney General Lauds Homosexual Recruiting Efforts Toward GOP
(FPN – March 17, 2000) – Despite tremendous success in courting pro-family voters over the years, the Virginia Republican Party continues to flirt with activist homosexuals in an attempt to expand its political base. The most recent event wherein an otherwise conservative Republican leader sought to appease homosexual activists involves state Attorney General Jerry Kilgore.
Six leaders of the so-called, “Log Cabin” homosexuals met with Kilgore recently in what they called their first “official” meeting with the state’s top Republican. The homosexual activists boast that Kilgore promised them “he does not believe in discrimination against anyone and said that his office does not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sexual orientation.” When asked whether or not he welcomes [people who engage in homosexuality] as part of the Republican Party, the Attorney General reportedly stated “he does, and he acknowledged the contribution the [Log Cabin homosexual club] has made to the Republican Party over the past few years, particularly in northern Virginia.”
While Log Cabin homosexuals like to claim they are conservative and just “happen” to be gay, they are actually quite liberal. Virginia’s Log Cabin club is a fringe group of radical liberals who organized purely for the purpose of making society more tolerable of deadly, immoral sexual behavior. Their top political priorities include seeking government-sanctioned marriage benefits for same-sex “couples,” decriminalizing acts of sodomy and teaching children about homosexuality in the public schools. They only support Republicans who oppose Republican social ideals. They rarely support candidates that don’t identify with their opposition to traditional values. As an example, Log Cabin homosexuals refused to endorse the 1999 Republican gubernatorial nominee in Virginia because he did not support their radical sexual agenda.
FPN’S POSITION ON KILGORE’S MEETING WITH HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS:
No public official should ever lend his or her credibility to any organization that is formed purely for the sake of making society more tolerable of deadly, unnatural, and/or immoral behavior. Would any noble leader attend an official meeting with the Ku Klux Klan? Certainly not! The reason is obviously because the KKK’s purpose for existing is grossly immoral, and meeting with such a group would inappropriately acknowledge its purpose for existing as legitimate.
Otherwise conservative politicians who are adamant about holding official meetings with activist homosexuals often cite the fact that the Bible teaches Jesus met with sinners. This defense is a shallow oversimplification of an important part of Jesus’ ministry to sinners. Christ only showed compassion toward sinners whose hearts were open to change. He always dealt harshly with sinners who were adamant about embracing their sins. One would hope that true conservatives would never manipulate scripture in an attempt to wink at immorality for the sake of a few votes.
A wise political adage says, “Don’t make friends of your enemies by making enemies of your friends.” Politicians who depend largely on conservative voters for their political effectiveness should count the potentially-high costs associated with attracting a tiny fringe group of sexually-deviant citizens. In this case, if Jerry Kilgore wants to go further in his political career, he should remember who helped him make it to where he is today.
