Matt Barber, vice president of Liberty Counsel Action, says the FBI’s hate crimes statistics for 2010 seem to differ significantly from what is commonly reported by the mainstream media.
After analyzing the numbers in the FBI’s Hate Crime Statistics report for 2010 he concludes that there is a clear bias against religion. Barber says “There were fewer hate crimes committed against people based on an animus toward their sexual behavior than there were committed toward people based on religion.”
Another consideration is how hate crimes are defined in the statistics. He says the vast majority of ‘hate crimes’ are usually pushing, shoving and coarse words — very few that involve aggravated assault. He found the leading basis for hate crimes was race, followed by religion.
