Purple Endorsement of Homosexual Sin Deceives America’s Youth
You may have seen the color purple in a few places you wouldn’t ordinarily see it Thursday, and you may have wondered why. The reason is because Thursday was selected as a time to affirm homosexual sin by liberal activists in places like Hollywood and Washington, DC.
To proponents of homosexuality, October 20 is known as “Spirit Day,” when the color purple is supposed to be worn to show “support” for young people involved in homosexuality and some other forms of sexual sin. The color purple was chosen because it supposedly represents “spirit” on the infamous pro-homosexual rainbow flag. (See Homosexual Rainbow Flag Reminds Why God Sent a Flood.) According to organizers, the goal of “Spirit Day” is for these young people to be “celebrated and accepted for who they are.”
In other words, they think sin should be both “celebrated” and “accepted.”
Purple “Spirit Day” celebrations first began in 2010, and have become a fashionable cause for liberal activists throughout the nation. This year, efforts to popularize the purple endorsement for sin are being spearheaded by a group of homosexual activist organizations, who have convinced countless churches, schools and colleges, media outlets, and celebrities to spread the word about so-called “Spirit Day.” Several heavyweight American corporations like Delta Airlines, AT&T, Comcast, NBCUniversal, Pepsico, and Yahoo! have also pledged to support the campaign. As you might expect, Facebook is onboard, too.
Sadly, these efforts will lead some malleable young people to feel homosexuality is not wrong, but normal. However, God has given each and every person the ability to understand what is truly behind “Spirit Day” and its attempt to deaden the conscience of America’s youth. In Romans 1, the Apostle Paul made clear that God has given each person a conscience, meaning humans are able to know right from wrong. Paul wrote that our conscience’s testimony to good and evil leaves us “without excuse” before God, and the fact that some people will choose to “suppress the truth” through their wickedness. Those who are encouraging America’s youth to accept and celebrate sin have already suppressed the truth in themselves, and they’re seeking to bring others into their folly.
Not only are the organizers of “Spirit Day” willfully deceiving America’s youth, they are leading other young sheep to the slaughter. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God made clear His intention for sexuality. His ideal of a one-man, one-woman, life-long union necessarily forbids adultery, incest, bestiality, pre-marital sex, and homosexuality. As such, Christian opposition to the legitimizing sin is not rooted in hatred or fear, but rather a desire to honor and promote God’s clear intentions for sex.
Nowhere is there a greater need to teach Biblical sexual morality than in the upcoming generation. They are being bombarded on every front with messages that it’s okay to explore (and even question) their God-given design however they want. Efforts on the part of homosexual activists to encourage children in their confusion are dangerous and must be opposed. Indeed, on Judgment Day these pied pipers of “experimentation” will greatly regret leading so many children into sin.
