7/27/11: UN Works to Make Children Autonomous

Podcast: Download (Duration: 1:00 — 1.4MB)

A conference on youth being held now at the United Nations appears to be bent on making youngsters “completely autonomous beings” unencumbered by parental authority or influence.

All the efforts to create new rights for youth are being finalized in the conference, according to Terrence McKeegan of C-FAM — including sexual rights and reproductive rights, generally interpreted as contraception and abortion.

CFAM and other Pro family groups question why the UN is trying to establish rights for youth, a word that includes those as old as 30, when it is society and governments that should pursue it. More importantly, they ask where are the rights of the parents in the equation?

Mckeegan adds issues that youths face cannot be discussed without talking about the family and the religious convictions of parents.
