Campaigning in Wisconsin last weekend, Vice President Joe Biden told voters that Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, doesn’t do any abortions.
The Obama campaign is trying to clean up the misstatement, saying Biden meant to say that, under law, Planned Parenthood can’t use the federal funding it gets to pay for abortions.
Planned Parenthood performed more than 329,000 abortions in 2010 while it provided prenatal care to only 31 thousand women and referred a meager 841 women to adoption agencies.
Planned Parenthood’s own records suggest its commitment to prenatal care is dwindling as the number of women receiving prenatal care dropped significantly from 2009 to 2010; a 25 percent decline. Adoption referrals also declined in that period by 14 percent.
