California Bans Sexual Orientation Change Therapy for Children

California is the first state in the nation to ban mental health professionals from engaging in “sexual orientation change” therapy for minors, regardless of the wishes of their parents or the minors themselves.

Governor Jerry Brown signed the legislation dubbed a “model for the nation” by homosexual advocacy groups. The controversial law prohibits any licensed “mental health provider … from engaging in sexual orientation change efforts … with a patient under 18 years of age.”

Pro family groups are calling the bill “tragic” – - pointing out that before homosexuality became a political matter, such counseling was the norm. They also add that “between 1966 and 1974, before the APS capitulated to homosexual activists, more than 1,000 professional and scientific articles showed clear evidence that homosexual behavior is treatable and changeable.”
